Temple Grandin
Temple Grandin is an American professor of animal science. She was born in August 24, 1947 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was diagnosed autistic at an early age, autism is a mental disorder which give difficulties to socialize and communicate with others. This disorder made Temple have problems with communications, she learned how to talk at the age of four. She didn't like socializing, what made her have problems when people touched her and had some type of contact with her. But this disorder didn't really stop her from making friends, a blind woman who was her roommate and science professor at collage became her friends, and in a while she learned to control this disorder and socialized with more people. Therefore, she never got the interest of getting married or having children, what she worried the most about was animals. Because of the interest about animals helped her achieve her goal.
As a teenager Temple stayed at her aunts ranch for a while. This is where she found a way to help her calm when she got in really bad depressions, which was the hug machine. She got the idea from watching what people from the farm did to calm down cows when they started to act aggressive. She started using the same machine as the cows until she went to collage and made her own. Even though people from college didn't want her to have it in her room because they didn't understand what the machine was helping her with, she didn't stop until they agreed with her. It wasn't easy but she never gave up, and the hug machine ended up helping many people there. Another thing that made her famous was how being autistic helped her visualize and remember things and moments just the way they were. This helped her a lot trough the process of achieving her goal which was help cows to move by themselves without being forced by the cowboys. She designed a great way to make it possible. She had obstacles but she never gave up until she accomplished it with the help of nice people. One day she went to a meeting for autistic people and while she was there she decided to share her story with the people there. This helped them and also her with controlling autism. She kept helping people and each day she became more known in many countries. At the end her disorder was a gift for her because it helped her and many other people instead of giving problems and disabilities.
Everyone has an obstacle that stops us from doing something and we nee to learn how to never give and keep trying until we finish what we were trying to do. Sometimes obstacles gives you opportunities it only matters on the way you see it. When you get obstacles you need to find a way that will help you during the progress of your goal , for example teaching you something and making you think twice before doing the second step. Sometimes obstacles just makes you get stronger and shows you that what your trying to achieve is strong and will change your life. Just like the way Temple used to see doors, she thought that each door will take her little by little to the place where she wants to be. This is a good example on how you need to look at each obstacle you have in life.
